Communication Specialist

Shift•ology Communication is currently hiring for the position of Communication Specialist to support a variety of marketing and communication functions and various accounts. The duties of this fast-paced position are diverse and multi-faceted and require professional skills and a strong self-directed work ethic.

Our Communication Specialist will play a hands-on role in helping clients Reach More, Convince More and Win More. You’ll collaborate with account managers and clients to support day-to-day communication needs as well as contribute to larger campaigns and projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with our team, including lead strategist, creative director, account manager, content creator, account support and business team, to deliver on retainer and project contracts.
  • Lead and execute marketing-communication plans, campaigns and/or project scopes.
  • Own specific client projects and deliverables, as assigned by the account manager.
  • Schedule/assign tasks within the account team and manage internal workflow.
  • Actively participate in creative campaign development and storyboarding.
  • Track and compile results for monthly or end-of-project reporting.
  • Research public opinion (i.e. stakeholder interviews, social listening, etc) and best industry practices.
  • Develop messages and content for a variety of communication channels, such as news releases, websites, short-form videos, etc.
  • Tell stories through print, audio and video. 
  • Create presentations.
  • Manage and monitor client accounts on various social media platforms.
  • Pitch media outlets to promote partners’ news and information. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Interest or experience in agriculture and related fields, healthcare and/or communities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple clients, priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment, as well as execute marketing-communication plans.
  • Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills with excellent command of correct grammar and AP style.
  • Versatile storytelling skills that translate to a variety of communication methods. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (listens well, builds trust and values collaboration).
  • Understanding of the PR process and PESO content model and ability to execute on them.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, PR, Marketing, Journalism or related field
  • 4+ years of professional communication experience
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work across multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills, self-direction and responsiveness
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience in agriculture, health and/or agency is a plus

The Details

Work Hours

Full-time, salaried. Employee should set and adhere to his or her own regular schedule and be open to work outside of regular business hours. This is a deadline-oriented job and may require some work on evenings and weekends. Most evening or weekend events are scheduled well in advance, and the need to work outside regular business hours is primarily based on the individual’s ability to plan and meet deadlines during the workweek.

Location

The Shift•ology Communication headquarters is located in COhatch in Springfield, Ohio. This position is hybrid and will involve occasional travel to our office and client offices. While Shift•ology Communication primarily operates as a hybrid-working team, we equip you with tools and technology to easily connect with clients and teammates from any location. It’s worth noting that office space is available, and in-person attendance is mandatory for specific meetings, events, and activities as scheduled and determined by client needs. The communication specialist will be required to be in the office up to 6 weeks the first year for training purposes, after which time the schedule will be re-evaluated.

Salary and Benefits Salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 with 10% bonus potential. Employees are paid twice monthly. Two weeks of PTO. An additional week of vacation is provided the week between Christmas and New Year’s. 401(k) and profit sharing available the Jan. 1 or July 1 after 6 months of continuous employment. Employee health plan available, with $500 employer start-up contribution to HSA, as well as employer-paid basic life/AD&D, short-term disability and long-term disability. Voluntary term life benefit (for employee and dependents) is also available.
