Account Manager, Communication & Public Relations

What You’ll Do
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing communication counsel and helping them reach business and organizational goals.
- Lead and manage multiple accounts, projects and campaigns, including understanding and facilitating research, planning, implementation and evaluation. Serve as the main contact and project manager for primarily agriculture accounts.
- Collaborate and coordinate with client and agency team members to deliver high-quality work on time and on budget.
- Anticipate client needs, propose creative solutions and identify new opportunities to grow accounts.
- Manage budgets, hours and resources while keeping projects aligned with objectives.
- Represent organizations, brands and issues to the public using paid, earned, shared and owned media.
- Sell ideas and partnerships to help clients and prospects reach their business goals. Identify and attract new prospects, bring new ideas to existing clients and maintain an existing portfolio of business.
- Conceive, write, execute and implement communication plans.
- Translate complex topics (science, agriculture, health, sustainability, etc.) into clear, compelling communication.
- Work with our team, including lead strategist, creative director, content creator, account support and business team, to deliver on retainer and project contracts.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Interest or experience in agriculture and related fields, healthcare and/or communities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients, priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills (detail-oriented and deadline-driven).
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills with excellent command of correct grammar and AP style.
- Experience executing campaigns, from strategic planning to tactical implementation and measurement (i.e. public relations RPIE process).
- Confident communication counsel backed by best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills: listens well, builds trust, motivates teams and values collaboration.
- Ability to delegate effectively and maximize team strengths.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, agricultural communication or related field
- 7+ years of professional communication or PR experience (agency experience preferred).
- Continuing education certificates and accreditations in project management, public relations, marketing and other areas are valued.
- Google or Microsoft Office suite, word processing, spreadsheets, project management, media and social media management and monitoring.

The Details
Work Hours
Full-time, salaried. Employee should set and adhere to his or her own regular schedule and be open to work outside of regular business hours. This is a deadline-oriented job and may require some work on evenings and weekends. Most evening or weekend events are scheduled well in advance, and the need to work outside regular business hours is primarily based on the individual’s ability to plan and meet deadlines during the workweek.
Location
The Shift•ology Communication headquarters is located in COhatch in Springfield, Ohio. This position is hybrid and will involve occasional travel to our office and client offices. While Shift•ology Communication primarily operates as a remote-working team, we equip you with tools and technology to easily connect with clients and teammates from any location. It’s worth noting that office space is available, and in-person attendance is mandatory for specific meetings, events, and activities as scheduled and determined by client needs. The account manager will be required to be in the office up to 6 weeks the first year for training purposes, after which time the schedule will be re-evaluated.
Salary and Benefits Salary is commensurate with experience, paid twice monthly, with bonus potential. Two weeks of vacation/sick leave, including five sick days. The five days of sick leave are available up front, which are prorated for the year based on your hire date. Plus an additional week of vacation is provided the week between Christmas and New Year’s. 401(k) and profit sharing available the Jan. 1 or July 1 after 6 months of continuous employment. Employee health plan available, with $500 employer start-up contribution to HSA, as well as employer-paid basic life/AD&D, short-term disability and long-term disability. Voluntary term life benefit (for employee and dependents) is also available.
